USA Scores on Every Drive to Match Best Record Since 2020

October 10, 2025 — Week 07 — Ubly, Michigan

The USA Patriots used a stout offensive attack and a timely defensive turnover to outlast the Ubly Bearcats, 28-22 on Friday, October 10, 2025 in Ubly, Michigan. Friday night’s victory gives the Patriots the most wins in six seasons and all but guarantees a spot in the 2025 MHSAA Playoff field.

USA fullback, Brady Green led the offensive attack for the Patriots carrying the ball 22 times for 136 yards and found the endzone twice, including the first Patriot score of the night to make it 6-0 halfway through the first quarter. Ubly responded well and on the very next drive, another sustained march down the field and capped off by a nine-yard catch by Aaron Weber from freshman quarterback Cooper Langenburg to tie it and the Bearcats would quickly take the lead with a Langenburg quarterback keep on the two-point conversion, 8-6, two minutes into the second quarter.

The Patriots’ second drive would also find the endzone on an Owen Kauffold six-yard touchdown run and a Noah Howard two-point conversion run to retake the lead, 14-6. Ubly went up-tempo on their final drive of the first half, but could not convert on fourth down with 16 seconds remaining in the second quarter to trail at half by eight points.

After Ubly’s Suzanne Smigielski was crowned Homecoming queen, the Bearcats retook the field and retook the lead on their first drive of the second half in just 54 seconds after fullback Blake Soule rumbled in for the touchdown from 30 yards out. Aaron Maurer’s run on the two-point conversion gave Ubly a two-point cushion, 16-14. USA’s next drive continued their offensive mindset with another sustained, run-heavy drive, capped off by Howard’s second score of the night and a Brady Green two-point conversion to swing the lead back to the USA sideline, 22-16 with five minutes remaining in the third quarter.

Ubly would put together another score to tie the game, 22-22 after Conner Smith broke free from 11 yards out. Unfortunately for the Bearcats, the Patriots would milk the clock for another seven minutes and another touchdown, Brady Green’s second of the night and gave USA the go-ahead score, 28-22 with 2:13 remaining in the game. The final drive for Ubly was cut short when Cooper Langenburg was sacked by USA’s Bryson Finkbeiner and the ball was recovered by Patriot defender Maddox Nitz. USA then converted on fourth down to run out the clock and secure the victory.

Besides Green’s 136 yards and two scores, Howard finished with 64 yards on 15 carries for one touchdown. Davis Peters was a perfect three for three in passing for 63 yards, with passes brought in by Owen Kauffold, Nitz and Tristen Thompson. Ubly was led by Maurer’s 114 yards on 19 carries. Langenburg finished 1-4 in passing for 9 yards, a catch from Weber.

The Red, White & Blue converted on their first nine third downs of the night. The only one they did not was on their final drive, which resulted in a conversion on fourth down on the ensuing play to salt away the victory. USA has now won five of their last six games and returns home to face Sandusky next week. Ubly has now lost two close games in a row and hosts the 5-2 Cass City Red Hawks on Friday, October 17.
