Week 04 Rankings Reveal Unanimous Top Teams

Week 04 Rankings Provide a Brief Moment of Clarity

September 22, 2025 — Week 04

After a split vote in Week 03, seven days later, all voters found a momentary unanimous selection for both the 8-player and 11-player rankings. Millington was upended by Cass City in overtime, 17-14, their first loss in 17 games dating back to 2023. Meanwhile, Harbor Beach took care of business against Vassar and snagged all eight first-place votes. In 8-player football, Deckerville extended its winning streak to 17 games with an impressive victory over then-undefeated Brown City, 33-20.

Lakers bumped up a spot, jumping ahead of Millington, while Ubly moved to #6 with a 42-22 victory over Marlette. North Branch’s 48-7 loss to Cros-Lex made the Broncos fall four places to #7. Cass City’s victory surged the Red Hawks from being unranked in Week 03 to #4 now.

8-player’s poll saw movement at all but the top spot. Kingston and Brown City swapped spots, while Peck and Bad Axe each dropped a place after losses to Bay City All Saints and Capac, respectively. Caseville’s second victory of the season pushed the Eagles into the top seven for the first time in recent history. North Huron moved from sixth to fourth after their 68-21 over Carsonville-Port Sanilac.

Rankings are voted upon by members of the Thumb Sportswriters Associations, comprised of media entities across Huron, Sanilac and Tuscola Counties, representing and providing coverage of 24 total schools. Football rankings take place after each week of the regular season, starting after Week 03 and concluding after Week 09.
