Week 04 Rankings Reveal Unanimous Top Teams
A rare moment of clarity was provided after the fourth week of football’s regular season. Just a week after a split vote, unanimous selections were made for the top spot in both 8 and 11-player football.
Deckerville 33, Brown City 20
The most anticipated 8-player football game in the state of Michigan was expected to come down to the bitter end, but the Deckerville Eagles had other plans, having never trailed and defeated the Brown City Green Devils, 33-20.
Week 03 Rankings Released
The first rankings of the year have been released by the Thumb Sportswriters Association. Harbor Beach and Deckerville find themselves in the top slot in their respective polls.

In a game with more tempo changes than an Italian opera, the Elkton Pigeon Bay Port Lakers utilized big plays to erase an early deficit and defeat the Cass City Red Hawks for the first time since 2022, 18-13 on Friday, September 12, 2025 in Cass City, Michigan.

Whiteford may have scored first off of a turnover, but it was Harbor Beach that would control the day, scoring six times and defeating the Bobcats 43-14 on Saturday, September 06, 2025 in Davison, MI.

The Pirates of Harbor Beach wasted no time to squash any doubts about their season’s possible trajectory, throttling the Cass City Red Hawks with a 42-8 victory to begin the 2025 MHSAA regular season.

Thumb Sportswriters’ Hall of Fame Inaugural Class
The Thumb Sportswriters Association (TSA) is proud to announce its inaugural Hall of Fame class. The class of 2026 includes Jordan Bitzer, Reyna Frost, Eli Kraft, Jordan Fish, Jim Fish, David Bossick and Roy “Bub” Armstrong.

MHSAA Regional Championship: Flint New Standard 64, Harbor Beach 56
Harbor Beach gave everything it had against New Standard Academy, but fell in the Regional Finals, 64-56 in a closely fought battle for all 32 minutes. The Pirates finish the season at 23-2 and tie the best team record in school history.
MHSAA Region 24 Semi-Finals: Harbor Beach 69, Brown City 33
Harbor Beach connected in every aspect of the game, cruising to a 36-point victory over Brown City, 69-33 in the Region 24 Semi-Finals of the MHSAA Tournament on Tuesday, March 04, 2025. The Pirates now advance to face Flint New Standard Academy (Flint Elite) on Thursday in Millington.
MHSAA District Championship: Harbor Beach 61, Lakers 52
Harbor Beach held off another motivated postseason opponent, erasing an early deficit and defeating the Lakers 61-52 on Friday, February 28, 2025. It marks the first district championship for the Pirates since 2013.
MHSAA Tournament: Lakers 62, Bad Axe 43
The Elkton Pigeon Bay Port Lakers never trailed and defended their home court to defeat the Bad Axe Hatchets by 19 points, 62-43 on Wednesday, February 26, 2025. Lakers now returns to the district championship game for the first time since 2022 to face off with the Harbor Beach Pirates.
